How racing on ALLEYKAT works, from finding an event to your finish time.

ALLEYKAT lets you find, register for, and run GPS-timed races from your phone — no bibs, chips, or timing mats. Whether it's an in-person alleycat with waypoints, a scavenger course revealed as you run it, or an async run you do on your own schedule, the flow is the same: find a race, register, and run with the app.

How racing works

  1. 01
Get the app and sign in
Download ALLEYKAT for iOS or Android, create an account, and set up your runner profile.
  2. 02
    Find a race
Browse Races or the World Map to discover events near you, or open a share link a friend sent you.
  3. 03
    Register
Sign up (and pay, if there's a fee). Plenty of races are free; in-person and async races can charge a registration fee.
  4. 04
    Run it
On race day, open the race in the app. ALLEYKAT tracks your GPS position, validates your start, waypoints, and finish, and produces your time automatically.
  5. 05
    See your result
Your finish time and ranking appear on the live leaderboard. If your recording failed, you can recover your result afterward.
