Get the app & create an account

Download ALLEYKAT, sign in, and set up your runner profile.

ALLEYKAT is free to download and free to use for free races. You'll need a smartphone with GPS to run.

Download the app

Get ALLEYKAT from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Live GPS tracking on race day happens in the app — the website is used for discovering races, registering, and (for organizers) managing them.

Create your account

  1. 01
    Sign up
Open the app and sign in with Apple, Google, or your email address.
  2. 02
    Set up your profile
Add your name and photo. Your profile name is what appears on leaderboards and race rosters.
  3. 03
    Allow location & notifications
Grant location access (required for timing) and enable notifications so you get race start reminders and result updates.
Location permission
In-person races require background location access — on iOS choose "Always", on Android "Allow all the time". GPS timing has to keep working with your screen off, so you can't register for or enter a GPS-timed in-person race without it. Turn on Precise Location too, so waypoint validation is accurate. Registration-only races are the exception — they are not timed in the app, so they never ask for location.
