Quick answers to the most common questions. For the full FAQ with structured answers, see the dedicated FAQ page.
What is unsanctioned (alleycat) racing?
Racing organized outside traditional governing bodies — no permits or sanctioning required. Community-run: underground races, pop-ups, alleycats, backyard ultras, and more.
Do I need a permit to host a race?
ALLEYKAT imposes no permit requirement. You're responsible for running your event safely and legally in your area.
How does GPS timing work?
Runners use the app during the race; it validates start, waypoints, and finish by GPS and produces a live leaderboard and automatic times — no mats, chips, or bibs.
What does it cost?
Free to download; free races are free. Paid races (in-person or async): $1/runner + 8% of the registration fee, never more than the fee itself. See Pricing.
