GPX result recovery

The GPX upload format used to replay a run through a race course.

If your live recording failed, you can submit a standard GPX track and ALLEYKAT replays it through the race's zones to produce an official result — indistinguishable from a live finish.

GPX format

A GPX file with timestamped track points is required — the replay needs time to compute elapsed and to validate zone order. Points without timestamps can't be timed.

track point (GPX 1.1)
<trkpt lat="40.785091" lon="-73.968285">
  <ele>10.4</ele>
  <time>2026-07-04T13:02:11Z</time>
</trkpt>

What replay checks

  • The track enters the start corral.
  • It passes each waypoint zone in order.
  • It enters the finish corral.

Unlike the live GPS path, external replay requires all zones in order — the lenient "missed a waypoint" finish applies only to live tracking.

Note
Submit a GPX from the race detail leaderboard (tap your own row). GPX upload covers in-person races on iOS today — async and FKT attempts recover through Garmin or a past run instead.
